Theresa Mitchell has recently become a Board Certified Paralegal in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. This is an incredibly prestigious title and we could not be more proud of her!
“Over the past week, I have been asked many times by those outside of the legal profession, What does it mean to be board certified? Inside the legal profession, it distinguishes a paralegal as having the requisite substantial experience and demonstrated and tested competence in a particular area of law. To me, it simply means I did it. I have reached the ultimate career goal that I set for myself 12 years ago when I became a paralegal. Preparation for the exam itself is no easy feat. I would study a few hours after work each night and six hours a day on weekends for months. Yet, I feel an overwhelming sense of pride and accomplishment having done so. To be able to use the credentials and specialty designation is the reward for all of the hard work and sacrifices made to get here. Becoming board certified is completely voluntary yet very rewarding. There are several thousand paralegals in Texas, and I am honored to be among the 400 who are board certified.”
