Every holiday season, the KLL Team embraces the spirit of giving by adopting children in foster care from the Dallas/Fort Worth area through the Angel Tree program. This year, we were thrilled to adopt 19 children!

The Angel Tree program, established 20 years ago, focuses on bringing holiday cheer to children in foster care due to CPS intervention. These children, often entering the system between the Fall and Christmas, may otherwise be overlooked by other Angel Tree initiatives. With countless children entering foster care daily due to abuse and neglect, this program ensures every child in Dallas County’s foster care system has a joyful Christmas. For the past seven years, the KLL Team has provided these children with gifts from their wishlists, presented in personalized gym bags monogrammed with their names.

Fulfilling these children’s wishes has become a cherished tradition for our firm, and it reminds us of the importance of kindness and community. Wishing you a Happy New Year from all of us at the KLL Team!

Kicking off a festive new tradition, the KLL Team celebrated its first-ever Ugly Christmas Sweater Day on December 19, 2024. Team members arrived decked out in their most creative, quirky, and over-the-top holiday sweaters, turning the office into a cheerful display of holiday spirit and camaraderie. From sweaters adorned with blinking lights to ones featuring hilariously festive designs, the day was filled with laughter and good-natured competition.

Also, on December 20, 2024, the KLL Team gathered at Capital Grille in Dallas to celebrate its annual holiday party in style. The evening was filled with delicious food, warm laughter, and a shared sense of accomplishment as the team reflected on the year’s successes. Everyone enjoyed a great meal, and the team took the opportunity to exchange heartfelt stories and gratitude for their hard work throughout the year.

Different Types of Divorces in Texas

Managing the complexities of divorce can be challenging. If you are considering a divorce in Texas, it is essential to understand the types of divorces available. Texas recognizes both fault and no-fault divorces, each with its unique characteristics and implications.

– No-Fault Divorce: In Texas, you do not need to prove your spouse’s wrongdoing to file for a divorce. This type is known as a no-fault divorce. The law allows couples to end their marriage by simply stating that it is “insupportable” due to “discord or conflict of personalities.”

– Fault-Based Divorce: Although no-fault divorces are common, Texas also allows fault-based divorces. In these cases, one party must prove that the other did something to harm the marriage. Fault-based divorces can affect the outcomes of alimony, property division, and child support.

Tiger

In a heartwarming success for conservation efforts, two Amur tigers, Pavlik and Yelena, have formed a remarkable bond after being reintroduced into Russia’s Jewish Autonomous Region, where tigers had been absent for over half a century. Rescued as cubs and raised in captivity, the tigers were released separately but soon found each other, becoming inseparable companions. Their union has led to the birth of two healthy cubs, marking a significant milestone in the restoration of the region’s tiger population.

This love story highlights the effectiveness of rewilding programs and the resilience of endangered species when given a chance to thrive in their natural habitats. The successful pairing of Pavlik and Yelena not only contributes to the genetic diversity of the Amur tiger population but also serves as an inspiring example of how dedicated conservation efforts can lead to the revival of species on the brink of extinction.

Dog

This month, we’ve partnered with Cody’s Friends Rescue to feature a couple adorable animals who are ready to become a cherished part of your family.

On the left, meet Boney. Boney wandered up with to a home in the country and before too long they realized he had been dumped. No one came looking for him and still haven’t. The owners of the home have taken him in but he is living in the garage by himself. He is great with their dogs as well as other dogs.  He is about 2 yrs old (per the vet) and weighs about 90 pounds. He is a mix of ‘Pit and Pointer. or so the vet thinks. He plays nicely with other dogs as well. He LOVES walks and is great on a leash. He loves water as he loves to swim in their pond!  He is super sweet and loving. He needs a home!  He is housebroken as well.

On the right, meet Bluey. He is 3 to 4 year old Yorkie mix who is loving and beautiful. He loves to play with other dogs. He was terrified at the shelter but once he got in the car for transport to his new life; he was affectionate and perfectly happy to stay in his transporter’s lap for the entire trip. He needs to be in a home with no children or older children who understand his need for space. He is happy and well adjusted. And oh so cute! He would do best with another playful pup and someone home alot, too.
