Stara L. Roemer
Biography
Stara Roemer is an experienced trial attorney who understands from personal experience the value of having an experienced advocate during a family law case.
Prior to joining Katie L. Lewis, P.C., Stara spent ten years as an Assistant District Attorney at the Dallas County District Attorney's Office. During her time at the District Attorney's office, she served as a chief prosecutor in a variety of misdemeanor courts and was then promoted to the felony trial division. She was assigned to several different felony trial courts, trying cases from low level drug offenses all the way up to capital murder and sexual assault. She also spent 3 years of her career as a specialized family violence prosecutor. In addition, she spent years prosecuting cases in the specialized crime division, which include various fraud and white-collar theft offenses.
Over the course of her career, Stara has tried well over 100 jury trials and trials before the court, and represented the State and clients in a variety of hearings. She has tried multiple murder and capital murder cases to juries. After leaving the District Attorney's Office, Stara spent 4 years as a criminal defense attorney representing clients in a range of criminal matters, from child abuse to capital murder. Stara has extensive experience prosecuting and defending allegations of domestic violence and allegations related to protective orders.
Stara has now dedicated her career to applying the skills acquired working as a criminal attorney to help her clients navigate this difficult time in their lives.
Stara was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2005. She graduated from Baylor University in 2002, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She obtained her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law in 2005.
